Your Soul is Divinity in Miniature

Womb of the Morning by Judith Lawrence

Your soul is a masterpiece of divinity in miniature. Its power is connected to the whole creation. … [T]he reason you have descended into physical life is to unleash the power of your soul upon Earth…It is a journey that brings you directly into the world. It brings you fully into your soul, and into your power in the world. Page 85 Entering the Castle Caroline Myss
God has created us in his image. God has created us to be his hands and his feet in the world. Our souls have been created as masterpieces of divinity in miniature. We are finite, of course, and cannot do all that God does. But, when we each do the part that God created us to do then God’s will for the world will be done.
If we think that the part we have been created to perform is so small that it will not matter if we do not do it, then God’s master plan for the world will take that much longer to come into being.
Lighthouse at Night
We were each sent into the world to “unleash the power of our souls upon the Earth” for God’s glory and that God’s grace may be given to all. The power of our souls is not to be unleashed for our own needs and desires but for the sake of God’s kingdom and peaceful reign upon earth.
We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves. 2 Cor 4: 7

Gateways to the Divine

Crocuses

Each of us carries an inner capacity for awe. One of us will be wonder-struck by a musical sequence. Another of us is rendered humble and serene by the sight of a butterfly’s wing. Each one of these gateways to the divine is there waiting for us to use it to make contact. There are some things that make us happy, some things that we love. For this reason, we say, “God is in the details.” Each of us experiences the touch of the Great Creator when we allow ourselves to touch upon something that we love. Julia Cameron Walking in This World Page 270/271
Seeing the new spring shoots coming up out of the cold winter ground so recently covered with snow gives us hope of new life, new birth. Warmed by the sun, the first crocuses open their blooms in colours of purple, yellow, and white. This is truly amazing! Though I’ve seen it all before, I cannot help but be amazed by the awesome creation of God, and I give a heartfelt prayer of thanksgiving to God.
Coming at a time so close to Easter and our annual reflection on the resurrection of Christ from the dead, these first spring flowers rising through the brown earth give us reassurance of the hope that is ours through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ that we, too, will rise to a new birth and life in the hereafter.
God gives us so many gateways through which we may glimpse his divinity—the transformation of caterpillar to butterfly; the returning birds building their nests, laying their eggs, nurturing their brood while giving up all thought of their own needs; the seeds of vegetables planted in the garden and providing a hundred-fold of produce for us to eat—all this and much more gives us the knowledge that God is the great provider of sustenance for the earth and all creation.
God’s grace and beauty is everywhere if we open our eyes and hearts to see and believe.

Grace of Creation

Summer Pathway

When we are afraid to begin [our creativity], it is always because we are afraid we are alone. …But we are not alone. God is present everywhere. The act of making art is a direct path to contact with God, and we do not need to travel any geographic or psychic distance to experience the grace of creation in the grace of our own creating. Julia Cameron, Walking in This World Page 21
When we are practicing our art—writing, book-binding, Celtic Knotwork—whatever it may be, we are connecting to God, walking to God, on a direct path.
When we practise our creativity we experience the grace of God’s creation in the grace of our own creating.
God is the Great Creator and God gives to us the gift of creativity. God wants us to share with him and our fellow human beings, the great joy the gift of creativity affords in our lives.
Those who make heavy weather of their creativity have not fully accepted the gift of creativity given to them. God desires us to delight in our ability to create and when we take on our creativity with reluctance, misgiving, or a heavy heart it is as if we are rejecting God’s gift to us.
So lose the attitude of guilt, reluctance, or unworthiness when practising your creative gift; take up your creative bent with whole-hearted joy, reverence, and gratitude, Experience the grace of creation in the grace of your own creating.

Drawn to God

To say that God is Infinite is to say that He may be apprehended and described in an infinity of ways. The Circle whose centre is everywhere and whose circumference is nowhere, may be approached from every angle with a certainty of being found.
So says, Evelyn Underhill in her book, Mysticism, P. 163
Draw me, we will run after thee. Song of Solomon 1:4a (King James’ Version)
God draws us to himself, even when we are only just beginning on the path of mystical prayer. God desires us to know him and, because each one of us is different, we can “run after God” in our own unique way and unite with God in our own unique union with the Sacred One.
The circle and circumference of God’s being is vast, in fact, it is infinite; the centre of God’s circle is where God desires each one of us to be—it is our spiritual home.
We do not have to be all the same. God does not require us, nor even want us, to be the same as one another. God delights in diverse responses and relationships with his creatures. As no two woodpeckers have exactly the same red markings on the back of their heads, and no two snowflakes have exactly the same pattern as any other snowflake, so it is with spiritual/human beings—no two have exactly the same makeup or the same relationship with God. Each one of us is created by God to be unique and therefore each one’s bond with the Sacred One is delightfully different and special from any other.
Perhaps even God would get bored with his creation if we were carbon copies of one another.
